Music and Dance of Bali at Rhythmix Cultural Works - DEC 11th, 2010
Internationally acclaimed Gamelan Sekar Jaya returns to the stage at Rhythmix Cultural Works under the direction of two outstanding Balinese artists -- renowned dancer I Ketut Wirtawan, and gamelan maestro Ida Bagus Made Widnyana. This Bay Area-based ensemble will perform music and dance from Bali in this unique Alameda space. The vibrant gamelan gong kebyar and angklung ensembles will perform, accompanied by the enchanting beauty of Balinese dance. Opening will be the g'nder wayang quartet, an accompaniment to special Balinese ceremonies and for shadow play theater.
