Gamelan in the Garden, presented by Gamelan Sekar Jaya with the Gardens of Golden Gate Park on Sunday, June 8, 2025, is a showcase of Balinese performing arts held in the beautiful San Francisco Botanical Garden.
Four of Gamelan Sekar Jaya's ensembles will be performing: Gender Wayang, Angklung, Dance and Jegog.
GENDER: 12:15-12:30pm
Gender Wayang will be performing Batel Gegitaan, which is a fun, energetic new piece that includes singing.
ANGKLUNG 12:35-1:20pm
Our Angklung ensemble will perform Pendet, a welcome dance with lots of performers and beautiful flowers. They will also perform Topeng Tua and Tabuh Telu. Come enjoy this masked dance performance!
JEGOG 1:30-2:30pm
The Jegog ensemble is composed of large bamboo instruments. This performance is upbeat and will encourage you to dance along! The jegog is joined by our marching beleganjur ensemble, full of drums and crashing cymbals.
Gamelan Sekar Jaya is excited to be joined by Harmonic Drift, an immersive and interactive percussion ensemble-on-wheels, sure to bring out everyone's inner child through playful and joyous exploration. Find them at the main entrance to the gardens - just follow your ears!
This season, Gamelan Sekar Jaya's ensembles are directed by I Gede Oka Artha Negara (Jegog), Dr. Anak Agung Anom Putra, S.S.T. (Dance), Ayu Sukmawati, S.H. (Dance), and I Ketut Cater, S.Sn. (Music). Learn more at gsj.org.
